Plan for 2018: Best Year Yet
"It us unlikely that anyone gets to the end of their life and wishes they had spent more time on their phone. As you take your last breaths, what do you want to have done with your life? In the end, only you get to decide if it was a life well lived. You're shaping it right now. If you don't like where you're headed, there's no time like the present to begin changing your course.
With that, we have one rule with planning:
Schedule what's most important first, always." -Rituals for Living Dreambook and Planner
The beginning of the year is a time for reflection. What were the best things that happened last year? What do we want to see happen next year? How can we be better? What needs to change?
What does it take to accomplish a goal? How can we keep our commitments to ourselves?
We need:
The willingness to change.
Different habits.
New priorities.
Awareness.
A plan.
You can use whatever you want to plan, but I find it usually helps to at least put items in your calendar. I'm not talking about doctors appointments and work deadlines either. Details like your new exercise plan, guitar lessons, the meeting with the guy that's designing your new app, and the amount of time your setting aside to write your book need to be in your calendar. If we want to achieve new goals we have to prioritize new tasks that are going to help us accomplish them.
I was never one for super detailed planning until a friend gave me The Dreambook. I don't know if it is the fun way it is laid out or what, but I feel excited overtime I open it and my mind on planning out all the details is forever changed. It has helped increased my productivity and shifted where I spend my time (more time cooking, exercising, creating, and less time in front of screens). The Dreambook helps you commit to your short- and long-term goals by creating awareness around personal growth, and whole health through creative processes, mind mapping, visioning, planning sessions, and a weekly boot camp. It also has space to journal along the way and reflect on your accomplishments. It has helped me to think upon where I am, where I want to go, and what steps need to happen for me to achieve everything I want out of life. I thoroughly enjoy sitting down with this as a tool for reflection, creativity, inspiration, and accomplishment. I am sharing it here for those who have wanted to pursue something but haven't quite made it happen.
What dream is it time to pursue?
