My morning routine is so enjoyable and has had such a positive impact on my life. I feel better mentally and physically because of it. It sets the tone for my day and has increased my awareness, efficiency, productivity, and more. If I skip a morning, I usually feel the difference throughout my entire day.

When creating your own morning routine, choose rituals that feel good to you so you are looking forward to getting out of bed and starting your day. No one can tell you the best morning routine for you, but you. Experiment. If it feels like a chore, adjustment is needed. Pick and choose and switch it up when necessary. There are no rules, just decide what will make you feel at your best and go for it!

Remember, you are the leader of your own life.

My Current Morning Routine

I begin with:

  • A large glass of room temperature water. I add lemon or lime and a little pink himalayan sea salt whenever I can.

  • Take Homeopathics (chosen using my most recent bioenergetic scan)

  • Get out of bed. I think the fact that so many of us actually get up each morning and go out and live our lives deserves more recognition. At times, this seemingly simple act feels monumentous. Getting out of bed means we are preparing to interact with the rest of the world and that is no subtle thing.  If we are currently experiencing pain, stress, or overwhelm, whether physically or emotionally, pulling the covers over our heads is always an option. If you manage to throw off the blankets, put one foot in front of the other, and get out of bed, I applaud you.

  • Make my bed. This makes it less likely that I will get back in it before bedtime! Also, it helps my space feel clean and organized, which leads to a less scattered frame of mind.

  • Teeth brushing.

  • Journaling practice. I am as honest with myself as I know how to be in this practice. It brings awareness and allows me to clear out the gunk that tends to swirl in my head. It helps me get in touch with what I am truly feeling, what is important, and also allows me to notice if there are certain habits, thoughts, or patterns that need some reframing. I also ask: What aligned actions would feel good to take today? I use these answers to guide my priorities for the day.

  • EFT/Tapping around any limiting beliefs that were brought up during my journaling. This is such a simple technique and helps me shift so quickly out of any funk that I might be in. I use it with almost all of my coaching clients and they love it as well!

  • Take my supplements, based on what my body currently needs.

  • Walk outside. I love looking up into the sky first thing in the morning and moving my body. During my walk I also speak out loud what I am grateful for into a voice memo (aka Gala Darling’s Magical Morning Practice) and then listen to something inspirational, either an audiobook or a podcast.

  • Shower, skincare, and get dressed. This kind of goes without saying, but hygiene matters. We feel good when we feel clean and well taken care of. The little things matter. Choose clothes that you feel good in and toiletries and skincare that are nontoxic and that you love.

  • Start the day!

I often add in a few other things if I have time or feel called to do so:

5-10 minutes of stretching

Dermarolling

Facial GuaSha

Read (a book, not the news or something else that will lead to anxiety and depression, HA!)

Oil pulling

Meditating

Gratitude lists

Scripting: write out how you want your day, month, year to go.

Visualizing

Setting an intention for the day

A cold shower

Essential oils: Lavender when I want to feel calm; Clary Sage when I want to gain clarity; Frankincense to get in touch with my intuition; and Peppermint when I want to feel more energized. The quality of the oils are very important because so many can actually be adulterated and toxic.

Light a candle or incense: Aromatherapy helps shift my mood!

Burn Sage or Palo Santo: If I want to let something go/clear the space.

Pull an Oracle Card or Affirmation Card. These are currently my favorite because they are so fun and light hearted!

Drinking a yummy cup of herbal tea
